Police Story 2013 by Jackie Chan

Jackie Chan has done it again and made the film beautiful during this time. Personally, I felt that the movie had fanastic cutways and amazing storyboard. Comparing to James Bond - Skyfall (2012) distributed by MGM, the Police Story 2013 had many flashback that leads from assumption to the the complete story of a brother wanting to find the reason of his younger sister death. The sequence of the film contains flashback of Wu's sister's death among the witnesses. (view the whole plot here via Wiki)

The film itself had unveil the true compassion side of the Chinese people before communism. In my opinion, the outreach of communism had hurt the Chinese people in protecting their Chinese heritage and values which in display to the Western world that Chinese are selfish and money-minded. But through this film, the director had display the hidden gem of Chinese culture that we are compassionate, understanding, honesty, heroism and the true heart of parents willing to die for their child.

Nonetheless, the cinema vertie style relates to the audience the realism of the film. The cinematography had a unique taste which was different from other Jackie Chan's film. The style works as in this present age movie-goers are looking to feel satisfied in relating to the realism of this world rather than just fantasy.

My popcorn rating 5 out of 5, if not I would not waste my time posting it on the blog :)

Product Comparison: Cloudy Apple Juice

I am not a coffee drinker. So whenever I go to Starbucks with my friends, i would get chocolate or tea as my beverage. But for the past few days, I have been getting juices when I do meet ups at Starbucks. Mainly because of the hot weather, it is so hard to swallow hot drinks.

I have been getting cold Cloudy Apple Juice since then and found out that it is actually 4 times for healthier than clear apple juice

Cloudy Apple Juice from Starbucks ($5.90)

Other than the health benefits, the texture of it gives a real deal on how a NATURAL apple juice should taste like.

But with that price, I find it expensive and find it difficult to spend if I would to consume it daily. Coincidentally, I came across another Cloudy Apple Juice sold at Cold Storage.

Cloudy Apple Juice from Cold Storage

The Cloudy Apple Juice from Cold Storage taste as natural as Starbucks.

Comparing both product side by side, the colour is no different from each other

And the price of Cold Storage's Cloudy Apple Juice - $1.90 !!
But I bought it at a even lower price.

Reduce to Clear $0.49 for Cold Storage Cloudy Apple Juice

Definitely a great deal for me! But I am looking forward for larger capacity to be sold by Cold Storage so I don't have to feed on small bottles everytime I want to consume it.

I have yet to find out another brands to compare with. If you came across any other brand that sell Cloudy Apple Juice, drop in the comment box below :)

Product Comparison: Japanese Beer

I drink beer but I do not know alot about it. Especially when you talk about ingredients and nutrition facts (if there is any) of it.  To me as long the beer is cold, it is a good beer.

But today, I want to share with you the different taste I personally experience after trying these Japanese beer. (Background: I have been in love with Japan after since my wife (who then was my girlfriend) insisted in going to Japan for a short getaway. I am really grateful to her ever since in opening my eyes to the world)

The beers that I am comparing today are: Asahi, Sapporo, Kirin. These are within available at local supermarkets that cost around $4 - 6 ++ SGD (depending on the size).

ASAHI
Asahi Mini Cans (125 ml)

Shape and form of the design gives a very tough and robust feel. Giving a industrial touch to the can. With the word "生" printed on the can gives me a feeling that the beer is unprocessed and raw like sashimi. It gives a light malt taste - a light beer. I can imagine myself having this after a long day of hard work and kill the thirst and accompanied by a few light snacks (fries, wedges).

However, I remember bringing a group of "Ang Mo" film crews to drink this and they almost kill me for it. Because the taste is not rich enough for them.

SAPPORO
Asahi Mini Cans (650 ml)
It gives a taste similar to Tiger Beer but lighter. I would guess that the taste is similar because of the malt. I had this will a small serving of almond and walnut. Together with the beer it intensify the flavor of the light snacks that I am chewing on.

With a narrow shape on the bottom of the can, it is easy to handle and how with care. Suitable for an Asian hand.  This sort of resolve that issue of spillage when you are drunk.
But with it shape, The capacity of the beer also increase from average 500ml to 650ml :)
Good enough to feel the kick and have a good night sleep after that.

KIRIN
Kirin Beer (500 ml) - Rewarded by Wifey

The strong barley malt and hops can be sensed once it is opened. It is light gold in coloured. The beer also tasted thin but have powerful barley taste that is stronger than other the other 2 Japanese beer (Asahi & Sapporo). Unfortunately, I didn't have it with any light snacks during this serving, which I "mentally" place this beer to be my last choice.
My wife had a tasted of it and rejected the taste. But as for me, as long the beer is cold, it is good enough.

Overall, I would prefer to have Sapporo with light snacks to compliment with. That would really make my night a perfect night.

Which one of the 3 would you prefer and why? And maybe what kind of snacks would you pair up with ? Leave your comments :)

My Secert Hideout

When I started my career as a freelancer, the first issue I had was working space. Having your office in the bedroom was never a wise choice, the bed is often calling you to be with it. Waking up in the morning is a struggle, afternoon naps could last for hours and working late into the night affects the other half who is sharing my bedroom with me.

Located along Bukit Merah Central, City College//SODE created an incubation lab for start-ups that are looking for collaboration and doesn't mind sharing the space. I was invited by them a few months back and decided to take up the space since September 2013.

The location of the place is just few minutes away from CBD area. The ease of transportation is also available via buses going to Orchard, Chinatown, City Hall, Raffles and Tanjong Pagar :)

The location even reaches to places like Science Park Drive & Maple Tree along Alexandra Rd in just minutes!! So many times, I just frown in heart when my clients wanted to meet me at Science Park. (I use to think that it is at Jurong area)

Bus services available to reach Spring S'pore Bldg

With just $300 per month, we were entitled to a 24 hours - biometric secured working space with these features as well:
- Air Conditioning
- High speed wifi Internet access
- Meeting Space
- Photocopying, scanning and printing

- Mailing address

Here are some of the photos I took without any colour correction or effects.

Entrance being invited by a plant and rack of magazine

Simple sofa for awaiting visitors (But, I spend most of my afternoon nap here)

Meeting Area + White Board and Markers (VERY IMPORTANT***)

Ending my day, I always look forward in seeing the sun gradually set down from the office window view. Jim (one of the in-charge) suggest installing bar table and stools along the window. Imagine, ending off the day with your client close the deal over the horizon and accompanied with a few cold beers :) Sure to return and close another deal with you.

Sun goes down...
